Company Overview/sizzle: (Revenue, Employees): Ponos Care is a physician driven healthcare organization focused on improving outcomes for patients with chronic conditions and acute pain by keeping them out of hospitals and reducing unnecessary emergency department utilization. Ponos works with healthcare providers to identify and manage high risk, high cost patients — particularly those with frequent ER use or unmanaged conditions — and offers services including in home care, pain management, care coordination.

General Overview: This role will serve as the first dedicated, senior analytics hire, owning the full analytics lifecycle from pulling and validating data to managing ETL processes, building reports and dashboards, and delivering actionable insights to clinical, operational, and financial teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SQL, SAS or Python, and healthcare reporting (HEDIS, quality metrics, state/federal feeds) and be able to step in immediately, working independently to support regulatory reporting, identify high-risk or high-utilization patients, and analyze outcomes, utilization trends, provider performance, and cost of care. This is a highly visible, critical position requiring someone who understands healthcare data, claims, and cost drivers, can manage multiple projects with minimal oversight, and can act as the company's primary analytics resource from day one.

Critical Skills/Technologies:
  • SQL – pulling, cleaning, and managing healthcare data
  • Working with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and managing data warehouses (backbone of all their data extraction, cleaning, and reporting)
  • SAS/Python (analytics tools) – running analyses and building models.
  • Healthcare reporting – HEDIS, quality metrics, state/federal data feeds.

Desired Skills/Technologies: The ideal candidate would come from CareFirst or a similar health plan as a data analyst.
Experience/Degree/Certifications Required: Degree preferred, coming from a healthcare background with certifications
Team Size & Dynamics: 2 analysts on the team who report to the CIO
Background/Drug Requirements: The background check includes credit, criminal history, Social Security verification, sex offender registry, a four year criminal check, motor vehicle record, and professional references. For candidates in Virginia, a Virginia state criminal check is also required.

TITLE: Healthcare Informatics Data Analyst

SUMMARY:
The Informatics Data Analyst has primary responsibility for fully supporting Ponos Care's ongoing healthcare business intelligence and informatic. Responsible for design and conduct of analyses related to measuring performance and status of programs, initiatives, processes and partners, in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provides analytical interpretation of data for evaluation of clinical practices and the development of financial and contractual modeling. This role reports directly to the Chief Information Officer.
  • Supports the Informatics department and develops business processes and systems to ensure integrity of the member data, establishing and maintaining data infrastructure systems of the organization.
  • Works with clinical and operations teams to identify clinical health status, and economic outcome metrics for measurement and reporting.
  • Works with the Medical Management and Informatics staff in designing, building, conducting and analyzing clinical and financial outcomes studies.
  • Works across departmental areas to create formal specifications for both internal and external reports in compliance with state and federal regulations for data exchanges/file feeds.
  • Conducts health data economic analysis for Operational team, Medical Management, Finance, and Contracting/Network Development Departments. Analyzes provider financial and clinical data to develop and produce physician performance reports.
  • Prepares state-required and/or departmental reports related to health care quality improvement initiatives including HEDIS and disease management programs.
  • Manages multiple data related projects to completion across multiple departments.
  • Works with the Information Systems department to further develop data access tools and analyze the functionality of external products.
  • Manages databases and data warehouse, develops and supports new business applications, and implements a technical quality assurance process that ensures that all software development is properly specified, documented, tested, implemented, and feedback received for improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems Analysis, Data Processing, Healthcare Informatics,
  • Management Information Systems or closely related discipline required
  • Formal informatics training preferred (SQL, SAS)
  • 5+ years experience with health care quantitative analysis and the application of advanced statistical techniques experience
  • 5+ years of Data Analytics Experience in a healthcare setting
