The Opportunity | Te heinga

We're on the lookout for a solid Senior Field Staff - Construction operator to jump in with our Parks and Open Spaces team at New Plymouth District Council.

This is a permanent, full-time role where you'll be out on the tools, helping keep our parks, tracks and public spaces looking sharp and running as they should.

Reporting to the Asset Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be responsible for getting stuck into the work programme - making sure jobs are knocked over on time, done right and up to spec. Whether it's building, fixing, or maintaining assets, you'll take pride in quality workmanship and getting things done properly the first time.

We're after someone who knows their way around construction, can lead from the front and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. If you're the type who enjoys a good day's work outside, takes ownership of what you do and backs your team, this could be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities | Ng haepapa matua

  • Scoping, Co-ordinating and delivery of scheduled works
  • Ensure all health and safety standards are upheld
  • Manage a small team to deliver works as efficiently and effectively as possible
  • Engage with stakeholders and provide a quality customer service.
  • Procure and utilise resources effectively.
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.
  • Digital competency for reporting and recording of site works.

Essential Skills and Experience | Ng pkenga me ng wheako

  • Preferably - Level 4 Certificate in Building or Hard Landscape.
  • Relevant industry experience in landscape construction or maintenance.
  • Drivers licence for relevant vehicle classes. Class 2 or higher advantageous.
  • Excavator experience.
  • General fitness at a level to be able to cope with the demands of the job.
