About HV Talent Group

At HV Talent Group, we help talented professionals like you connect with top employers nationwide. As a trusted recruiting partner to industry-leading companies, we focus on direct-hire placements that align with your career goals, values, and long-term growth.

Our client, a respected and growing commercial general contractor, is expanding its preconstruction team and is seeking three experienced Senior Estimators to support complex vertical construction projects throughout Florida.

This is an outstanding opportunity for seasoned estimating professionals who enjoy collaborating with operations, design teams, and executive leadership to develop accurate budgets, support pursuit strategy, and help shape projects long before construction begins.

Position Overview

The Senior Estimator will lead estimating efforts from conceptual budgeting through Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) development for a variety of commercial construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep construction knowledge, and the ability to evaluate project risks while developing comprehensive, competitive estimates.

Working closely with Preconstruction, Project Management, Operations, and executive leadership, the Senior Estimator will play a key role in helping secure and successfully launch new projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates for complex vertical construction projects.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing narratives, scope clarifications, allowances, alternates, and risk assessments.
  • Solicit, analyze, level, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Support procurement planning, long-lead material evaluations, and project budgeting.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and internal project teams during design development.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises and recommend cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Assist in developing Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Present estimate assumptions, pricing strategies, and cost analyses to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve estimating processes, tools, and preconstruction workflows.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor or construction management firm.
  • Proven experience estimating vertical construction projects from conceptual budgeting through GMP development.
  • Experience with multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, student housing, or institutional construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, cost analysis, value engineering, and procurement strategies.
  • Exceptional quantity takeoff and scope analysis skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and industry-standard estimating software.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain estimating logic to clients and executive leadership.
  • Florida commercial construction experience is strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Multifamily developments
  • Mixed-use construction
  • Hospitality projects
  • Commercial office buildings
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Student housing
  • High-rise construction

What We're Looking For

We're seeking experienced estimators who think strategically—not just tactically.

The ideal candidate has successfully developed conceptual budgets, challenged assumptions, evaluated project risks, and contributed to winning pursuits through thoughtful cost planning. You understand how estimating decisions influence project execution and enjoy collaborating with both operations and executive leadership to deliver successful projects.

If you're passionate about preconstruction and want to help shape exciting construction projects from day one, this is an exceptional opportunity.

Why Join This Opportunity?

  • Join a respected and growing commercial construction organization.
  • Play a strategic role in expanding a high-performing preconstruction department.
  • Work on complex, high-profile vertical construction projects.
  • Opportunity for long-term career growth and leadership development.
  • Collaborative environment with strong executive support.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.

If you're ready to take your estimating career to the next level while helping shape the future of major construction projects, we'd love to hear from you.
