This role functions as a senior engineering technician or design specialist responsible for solving complex design challenges and delivering high-quality technical outputs. The position requires advanced expertise in engineering design, use of digital tools like CAD and BIM, and the ability to ensure compliance with standards while maintaining consistency across projects. Additionally, the role provides leadership through mentoring, quality oversight, and contributions to process improvements and innovation.
Job Description
Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline
Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions
Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards
Reviews project requirements to determine the correct formats and deliverable content
Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections
Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency
Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards
Manages drawing control
Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs
Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation
Skills Required
Typically, a minimum of 11 years of related work experience
Power generation design experience
Advanced engineering design and problem-solving
Proficient in CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling
Knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and compliance
Review and maintain technical drawings and documentation
Quality control and process improvement
Mentor and guide junior technicians
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Education/Training/Certifications
Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
