NOVA Engineering is hiring a Senior Construction Materials Testing Technician (CMT Special Inspector) to work on projects throughout the Atlanta, GA metropolitan statistical area (MSAs). For this position the employee will be providing quality assurance/quality control testing and IBC special inspection duties for commercial, retail, educational, low to high-rise, manufacturing, etc. construction projects.Successful candidates must perform on site observations/inspections to confirm compliance with the local building code and project contract documents, collect samples per ASTM & project requirements, perform specific QA/QC tests on construction materials and building components per ASTM, ACI, etc. standards, and maintain detail records of observations, inspections and test results. Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e. employee is in the field as the Company's representative) but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.Primary responsibilities will include:Special Inspections of Structural Masonry, Reinforced Concrete, Light Gauge Metal Framing, and Wood Framing.Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations providedPerforming basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and preparing reports of resultsEvaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and providing recommendationsCommunicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issuesProviding assistance to other NOVA team members to promote the overall objectives of the companyRequirements:3+ years applicable experience with QA/QC testing of construction materials and special inspections on commercial buildingsInternational Code Council (ICC) certifications in one or more of the following disciplines: Soils, Structural Masonry, and Reinforced ConcreteAmerican Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing - Level 1Nuclear Density Gauge TrainingValid Georgia Driver's licenseThe ability to read plans & specificationsPreferred:Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) RTT and QCTPost-Tensioning Institute (PTI) Level 1 Unbonded PT InstallationNOVA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
