Job Title: Senior Engineering Technical Lead (Natural Gas Infrastructure)
Position Overview
This role is responsible for leading the design, technical oversight, and successful delivery of natural gas infrastructure projects, including metering and regulating (M&R) facilities and pipeline systems. The position acts as a key technical authority, supporting project teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing engineering talent across the organization.
Core Responsibilities
Direct the design and development of natural gas M&R facilities, including pressure regulation, gas measurement, filtration, heating, and odorization systems
Provide leadership in pipeline engineering, including routing, materials selection, system integration, and operating pressure considerations
Review and validate engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality, including drawings, calculations, and equipment specifications
Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and industry regulations and standards
Identify and resolve technical challenges across all project phases, from concept through commissioning
Support and mentor engineers at various experience levels, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing
Facilitate design reviews, internal training sessions, and collaborative technical discussions
Promote strong engineering practices with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and efficiency
Stay informed on advancements in technology, materials, and engineering methodologies within the natural gas sector
Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of internal engineering standards, tools, and workflows
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related discipline
At least 8 years of relevant experience in natural gas systems, including facilities and pipeline design
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within a defined timeframe
Demonstrated experience in M&R station design, pipeline systems, and hydraulic analysis
Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, CFR, NFPA, AGA standards)
Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff
Strong analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Technical Capabilities
Experience with design and operation of M&R systems, including regulator sizing, pressure control strategies, overpressure protection, and gas measurement technologies
Solid understanding of pipeline engineering principles such as stress considerations, class location, pressure limits, and routing
Ability to interpret and produce engineering documentation, including process diagrams, layouts, and calculations
Familiarity with common engineering and design software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, CadWorx, Revit, or similar platforms)
Knowledge of construction practices, inspection requirements, and commissioning activities for gas infrastructure projects
Ability to lead multidisciplinary discussions and align stakeholders on technical decisions
Strong written communication skills for preparing technical documentation and reports
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with Bluebeam or similar document management/review tools
