Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced transportation professional to serve as our Senior Engineer/Transportation Project Manager. This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as the departments roadway design subject matter expert while leading the development and delivery of high-profile transportation infrastructure projects funded through federal, state, and local programs.

The successful candidate will combine advanced roadway design expertise with proven project management experience to help shape the future of the countys transportation network.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Serve as the departments lead roadway design technical expert.
  • Manage the delivery of complex transportation projects from concept through construction.
  • Lead the design review and quality assurance process for roadway improvement projects.
  • Oversee federally funded transportation projects and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate with local agencies, consultants, utilities, contractors, and regulatory partners.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and funding strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff.
  • Support transportation planning initiatives and capital improvement programs.
  • Present project information to leadership, elected officials, and the public.
  • Assist with securing transportation funding and grant opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Ohio or ability to obtain Ohio registration within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible transportation engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in roadway design and transportation project development.
  • Experience managing federally funded transportation projects.
  • Strong understanding of ODOT, FHWA, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards and requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Valid Ohio drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

Ten (10) or more years of roadway design experience.

  • Experience serving as a roadway design lead or technical subject matter expert.
  • Experience managing consultant contracts and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Supervisory or staff mentoring experience.
  • Experience with local government transportation infrastructure programs.

Fulltime Employees: (40 hours per week) -

Part-time Employees: (21+ hours per week)

Part-time Employees: (20 hours or less per week)

Seasonal Employees:

Sick Leave - accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active pay status.

Vacation - Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment and have completed twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees. Part-time Seasonal employees (less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.

Intermittent Employees:

Sick Leave - accrual based on hours worked.

Temporary Employees -

Sick Leave- accrual based on hours worked.

Holidays - Employees other than full-time, are eligible only for the portion of the holiday they are scheduled to work.
