Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance - Structural Integrity Join to apply for the Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance - Structural Integrity role at The Port Authority of New York & New JerseySenior Engineer, Quality Assurance - Structural Integrity 1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicantsJoin to apply for the Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance - Structural Integrity role at The Port Authority of New York & New JerseyDescriptionAbout the RoleReporting to the Quality Assurance Division (QAD) , Manager of Structural Integrity and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager of Structural Integrity, the selected candidate will serve as a Task Leader in the QAD Structural Integrity Unit, providing technical support to the unit's Project Managers on multiple inspection projects of various structures such as buildings, tunnels, bridges, and waterfronts at all of the Port Authority facilities. This is a full-time position with an expectation of being in the office at least four days per week.ResponsibilitiesT he selected candidate's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:A udit consultants performing facility condition surveys and biennial inspection of bridges and tunnels .R espond to and evaluate immediate structural deficiencies at all Port Authority facilities .P erform technical reviews of condition survey reports and biennial bridge and tunnel inspection reports .R eview condition survey project proposals .P repare condition survey cost estimates .M aintain and update the Structural Integrity D atabase (SID) for condition survey report data , immediate actions and priority repairs .A ttend nighttime and/ or weekend inspections as needed .Minimum Qualification sA bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.Five or more years of specific condition inspection and design experience of various types of structures.Familiarity with New York State, New Jersey state and FHWA requirements for biennial inspection of bridges and tunnels and familiarity with various other codes including AASHTO specifications.Ability to respond to emergency structural situations.Possess valid driver's license.Proficiency in written and oral communication skills.Desired QualificationsProfessional Engineering license in N ew Y ork and/or N ew J ersey.Completion of Bridge Inspection Training Courses: NHI 130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges), NHI 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher .Completion of Tunnel Inspection Training Course: NHI Course No. 130110 (Tunnel Safety Inspection ) .Experience in bridge and/or building repair design.Ability to assess inspection findings, effectively reach a sound conclusion and recommend repairs.Be physically fit to climb various types of structures.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment.Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office, AUTOCAD, etc.Selection ProcessThe application process varies by position, but typically includes an initial phone interview for qualified candidates, followed by a more in-depth interview(s) and/or assessment(s).
