Qualifications

Education and ExperienceSenior Engineer PE ($76,606.40 Min - $114,899.20 Max)

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in project management, construction, inspections, planning, design, permitting and/or general engineering.

Principal Engineer PE ($94,390.40 Min - $141,585.60 Max)

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in project management, construction, inspections, planning, design, permitting and/or general engineering.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Must possess a valid state drivers license and obtain a valid Florida drivers license within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • For Senior Engineer PE and Principal Engineer PE: Florida Professional Engineer License or registration as a Professional Engineer in another state and successfully obtain Florida P.E. Registration within nine (9) months of hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages contracted designs and/or performs in-house designs, cost estimates, permitting, preparation of technical plans & specifications, construction, and contract administration for a variety of capital improvement projects, including but not limited to transportation, drainage, water/sewer/irrigation and City facilities, as assigned.
  • Maintains close liaison and interacts daily with design consultants, surveyors, engineers, regulatory agencies, City administration, architects, contractors and inspectors.
  • Provides project management services and coordinates bid process for specific projects as assigned.
  • Prepares time schedule, budget reports, technical specifications and plans for a variety of capital improvement projects. Researches, analyzes and reports on issues including, but not limited to, regulatory compliance, system operations, property ownership, and inter-municipal agreements.
  • Responds to inquiries from the public, resolves problems and represents the City at public meetings as required.
  • Directly supervises and provides guidance to staff as assigned within the scope of a specific project. Provides assistance to the designated manager in preparing the annual and five year budget.

Leave Time (Sick, Vacation)

  • Block of hours which incorporates sick and vacation. Accrues at 16.67 hours per month for an annual total of 5 weeks (200 hours). Accrual increases to 20.00 hours per month after 6 years of service and continues at a yearly increase after 10 years of service.
