Description

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We're changing that.Atoms builds Physical AI— real‑world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive. This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don't just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale. We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.If you want to work on hard problems with real‑world impact, join us.What you'll do Heavy Equipment Interface Analysis & Documentation Analyze and document CAN bus, J1939, direct signaling, and vehicle‑specific communication protocols on heavy equipmentCreate comprehensive technical documentation for electrical interfaces and vehicle control systemsDocument electrical schematics, pinouts, and signal specifications for integration pointsDesign and implement custom circuit boards for electronic and actuator‑based vehicle operationImplement fail‑safe mechanisms and redundant control pathways for safety‑critical systemsWork with cross‑team engineers to design custom wiring harnesses and connector solutions for harsh industrial environmentsAdvanced PCB Design Design multi‑layer motherboards for compute units handling real‑time control systemsImplement high‑speed differential signaling for camera interfaces, GNSS, and LiDAR signalingDesign mixed‑signal circuits combining power electronics with sensitive sensor processingAdhere to high standards for signal robustness and DFAHardware Testing & Documentation Document testing requirements for environmental durability and system reliability of hardware componentsDesign and build hardware test apparatus for validation and troubleshootingSupport quality assurance processes and technical documentation standardsIntegration & Deployment Support Support field installations and troubleshoot hardware issues at customer sitesWork closely with software and mechanical teams to optimize system integrationCollaborate with team members to develop tight system interfaces in a rapid iteration environmentWhat we're looking for Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldStrong PCB design experience with multi‑layer boards and high‑speed signalingExperience with embedded systems and real‑time control applicationsFamiliarity with common communication protocolsHands‑on experience with hardware testing and validationAbility to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environmentWillingness to travel occasionally for field deploymentsLocation This role is based in our San Francisco office.
