Senior Electrical Engineer

Sciton is a Silicon Valley based pioneer in laser, light, and energy technologies for aesthetic and medical applications. Our engineers helped bring laser products to market just a few years after lasers were first invented, and that same spirit of innovation still drives us today.

We are built on a strong set of values: Selflessness, Candor, Innovation, Execution, Objectivity, Excellence, Learning, Ownership, and Clarity. With more than 500 employees worldwide, Sciton has been recognized as a USA TODAY Top Workplace for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2025.

If you want to work on meaningful technology that directly improves patient outcomes and be part of a company that values curiosity, ownership, and excellence, we would love to meet you.

Position Summary
Sciton is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and support of our aesthetic medical laser systems. This role works closely with a multidisciplinary technical team and requires deep hands-on experience across electronics design, embedded systems, and power electronics in a regulated product environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead electronic hardware design from concept through production, including circuit simulation and analysis
  • Select electronic components with consideration for performance, availability, cost, and long-term obsolescence
  • Design and develop PCBs using Altium Designer
  • Develop and support embedded controller solutions based on ARM architectures
  • Design system wiring harnesses and cables
  • Perform hardware and software integration, testing, and debugging
  • Support system-level compliance and regulatory testing
  • Build and debug prototypes, including SMD rework and lab troubleshooting
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support product development and sustainment
Required Technical Expertise:
  • Power electronics design using IGBTs and MOSFETs (high-power switching, motor control, switching supplies)
  • Switching power supply design
  • Analog circuit design, including constant current sources and signal conditioning
  • Magnetic circuit and transformer design
  • Mixed-signal systems, including ADCs, DACs, and microcontroller interfaces
  • Serial communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, and related buses)
  • Operational amplifier circuits (amplifiers, integrators, differentiators, instrumentation front ends)
  • Basic digital design and interfacing
  • Sensor and instrumentation systems, including pyroelectric detectors and electro-optical sensors
  • Robotics and motion systems, including motor control, control systems, and mechatronics

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required
  • 10–15+ years of direct, hands-on electrical engineering experience
  • Extensive design experience across the full product development lifecycle
  • Strong hands-on experience with ARM-based embedded systems
  • Experience working with high-voltage and high-power systems (up to 1000 V, 400 A, and 4 kW)
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; project-oriented mindset
  • Medical aesthetics or medical device industry experience strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $125k - $162k. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, Sciton provides an opportunity to participate in equity/stock incentive programs, a profit-sharing bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package, including 401K with matching.
