Description

Job Summary: Our company is searching for an experienced Senior Electrical (Embedded Systems) Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and supporting high-security electronic lock systems- including new products, enhancements to existing solutions, and integrations with third party devices, and integrations with mobile and cloud platforms. The position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you will manage multiple projects, demonstrating high levels of responsibility and ownership.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop embedded systems for electro-mechanical high-security locks, including software, firmware, hardware integration, and testing for performance/reliability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, firmware code, software, mobile applications, specifications, user manuals, and certification records.
  • Develop and integrate electronic systems with mobile applications (iOS and Android) and cloud platforms for remote access, data syncing, and other security features in lock products.
  • Support production operations by collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain for process optimization, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
  • Provide field service support and resolution of issues for deployed locks.
  • Manage compliance and testing efforts, ensuring adherence to standards like UL/CE/ANSI, security threat mitigation, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate with other engineering team members, and cross-functional teams to integrate electro-mechanical designs, lead projects, and resolve interdisciplinary challenges.
  • Conduct debugging, performance analysis, feasibility studies, risk assessments, and continuous improvements for current systems and products in development.
  • Lead small team efforts, manage timelines/budgets, mentor juniors, and coordinate with suppliers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct competitive analyses and monitor industry trends concerning High Security Lock Products

Requirements

Demonstrated expertise in ground-up development of embedded electronics and supporting components.

  • Proficiency in C, C++, Java, C#, .NET, Python, and embedded programming tools for firmware development, PCB design, and schematics.
  • Expertise in electro-mechanical principles, including microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, RTOS, FPGA, and hardware-software integration.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle, quality systems (Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA), cloud/API integrations, and mobile app connectivity.
  • Development, deployment, and support of mobile applications, including iOS/Android platforms, APIs, and other integration with embedded lock systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills for circuits, systems, and security vulnerabilities using tools like simulation software.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills for customer/regulatory interactions, documentation, and team collaboration.
  • Leadership in project management, planning, prioritizing, decision-making, and mentoring within small engineering teams.
  • Creativity and innovation for optimizing algorithms, self-learning new technologies, and improving system efficiency/reliability.
  • Understanding of safety/regulatory compliance, embedded security standards, and test equipment like oscilloscopes or analyzers.
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a world class manufacturing environment.
