HEPCO is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Safety & Training for our client. This leadership role is responsible for advancing occupational health and safety initiatives, managing training programs, and supporting safety operations across complex construction environments. 

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Safety & Training will represent senior safety leadership in day-to-day operations while overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health and safety training programs. This individual will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Senior Director of Safety in daily operations and safety-related activities.
  • Evaluate safety training programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, update, and deliver occupational health and safety training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage technical and process-related training programs, tools, and resources.
  • Lead safety initiatives designed to strengthen organizational safety culture and performance.
  • Prepare occupational health and safety performance metrics and reports for leadership.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in high-risk work activities and ensure appropriate risk mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Conduct periodic construction site audits to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Analyze safety data and implement corrective actions to reduce risks and improve performance.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, PESH, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, Education, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of construction safety experience, including at least four (4) years in a training, leadership, or supervisory capacity.
  • Proven experience in training administration, curriculum development, instructional design, and classroom delivery of safety programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, including 29 CFR 1926 Subpart C – Training and Education.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with EPA regulations, PESH requirements, and other applicable health and safety standards.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, Windows-based applications, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and related systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience implementing and managing health and safety management systems.
  • Knowledge of New York State Construction Codes and construction safety practices.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Industrial Hygienist Technician (IHT), or similar industry-recognized certifications.
  • Council-Certified Environmental Consultant (CIEC), Council-Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP), or related environmental certifications.
  • Strong business administration skills, including report writing, presentations, project coordination, and time management.

Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
