JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Merchandising plays a critical role in shaping the future of Weissman's product and brand experience. This leader brings a strong, forward-thinking perspective on assortment strategy, customer needs, and market opportunity - translating insights into compelling product strategies that drive growth across multiple brands and catalog offers. Partnering closely with Design, Creative, Marketing, Sourcing, and Planning, this role sits at the center of bringing product to life from concept to customer, balancing big-picture vision with data-driven execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and execute the divisional merchandising strategy across multiple brands and catalog offers, aligning to company growth objectives and brand direction
  • Own end-to-end product strategy, including assortment planning, pricing, positioning, and lifecycle management from concept to customer
  • Lead strategic planning efforts, identifying new business opportunities and ensuring divisional strategies align with enterprise priorities
  • Drive financial performance through data-informed decision making, optimizing sales, margin, and productivity across categories
  • Translate customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into actionable merchandising strategies
  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Creative, Marketing, Sourcing, and Inventory Planning to deliver cohesive product and brand execution
  • Influence and present strategic initiatives to executive leadership, serving as a key thought partner to the SVP of Merchandising
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing merchandising team, including organizational design, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Establish and manage divisional operating rhythms, including calendar management, cross-functional alignment, and go-to-market execution
  • Guide and influence omni-channel marketing and creative strategies to ensure alignment with merchandising vision and financial goals

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required

Master's degree or equivalent specialized training preferred

Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in retail and/or direct-to-consumer merchandising, including product development from concept to customer
  • 1 - 3 years of experience at the Director level or above

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial metrics and drive business performance
  • Demonstrated success leading merchandising strategy and managing or growing a business or category
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities with independent decision-making skills
  • Highly organized with strong accountability and execution focus
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas to executive audiences
