Since then, it has grown to become one of the largest shelters for our unhoused neighbors in North Texas. We serve single men, women, and families, with the capacity to serve up to 226 residents. We ensure housing stability through prevention, access, and comprehensive support, affirming dignity, strengthening independence, and cultivating a community rooted in care.Summary of the JobAs a key member of the Development Team, the Senior Director of Development will be a consistent and focused leader responsible for overseeing the organization's fundraising efforts with foundations, giving circles, and grants. This position requires a visionary leader who can cultivate strong relationships with donors, grant‑making bodies, and stakeholders, while also leading a high‑performing team of grant‑writing professionals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in fundraising strategy, grant writing, and donor cultivation, combined with strong management skills to guide and inspire a diverse team.Essential FunctionsLeadership & ManagementMentor and provide guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growthFoster a collaborative and inclusive grant team culture that encourages creativity, accountability, and continuous improvementSet clear goals and performance metrics for each team member, ensuring alignment with organizational fundraising objectives and the strategic planProvide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to enhance individual and team performanceBuild and maintain relationships with high‑net‑worth donors, foundations, and corporate partners, working to increase financial support for the organization's missionIdentify new fundraising opportunities and expand the donor base through targeted outreach based upon wealth management screening and generations identifiedEnsure the fundraising plan integrates with the organization's overall strategic goals and missionOversee the grant development process, including identifying potential funding sources, writing compelling proposals, and managing relationships with grantorsMonitor and report on grant outcomes to ensure compliance with funder requirements and maximize future funding opportunitiesCollaborate with the programs team to understand funding needs and align grant proposals with program objectivesWork with the business office and Chief Development Officer to set annual fundraising budgets and ensure fundraising initiatives are executed within budget constraintsMonitor revenue and expenses associated with fundraising efforts, providing regular reports to the Chief Development OfficerUse data and analytics from CRM to assess the effectiveness of fundraising activities and adjust strategies as neededRequired Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree required; Master's degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with at least 3 years in leadership in the DFW areaProven track record of successfully leading fundraising campaigns and securing major grantsExperience in grant writing, grant management, and cultivating long‑term relationships with grant‑making bodiesExperience managing and mentoring teams, with a demonstrated ability to lead diverse groups of individuals to achieve shared goalsCore Competencies / Soft SkillsExceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess situations, prioritize actions, and make data‑driven decisionsExpertise in fundraising software, Donor Perfect, and/or Salesforce CRM systemProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of fundraising best practices, giving circles, trends, and regulatory requirementsHigh level of professionalism and discretion in dealing with confidential informationPersonal AttributesStrategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture while managing the day‑to‑day fundraising operationsCollaborative, works effectively with teams across various departments, including programs and financeResults‑oriented, focused on meeting and exceeding fundraising targets with a high level of accountabilityMotivates and engages team members to reach their fullest potential and contribute to the organization's missionPassionate Advocate with a strong belief in the organization's mission, with a commitment to making a difference in the communityThe Samaritan Inn provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid time off.Disclaimer and Equal Opportunity Statement: The Samaritan Inn has made every effort to accurately and thoroughly describe this position.
