The Senior Director of Development is a pivotal role tasked with orchestrating and leading the client's fundraising strategy and operations. This position entails the construction, stabilization, and scaling of a robust national development program, providing strategic leadership in all fundraising activities such as individual giving, grants, corporate partnerships, and campaigns. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be a vital member of the senior leadership team, overseeing a team of three development staff members to ensure the organization has the necessary philanthropic resources to fulfill its mission effectively. This role demands an inspirational leader adept at setting strategies, mentoring teams, and executing initiatives expertly. The director will assume the authority on development, guiding executive leadership, managing development functions aligned with the client's mission, and fostering a success-oriented culture within the development team. Responsibilities include devising a comprehensive fundraising strategy, formalizing systems and procedures, steering individual giving programs, launching a national corporate sponsorship program, and enhancing the grant program in collaboration with the Grants Manager. The position also involves designing and managing year-end giving campaigns and facilitating the transition to a new contact management software to optimize donor data utilization. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 8+ years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience, with at least 5 in senior leadership or director-level roles in similar environments. They should demonstrate a proven track record in building or transforming development functions and leading comprehensive fundraising programs encompassing individual gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships. The ability to propose innovative solutions, own outcomes, and work autonomously, along with proficiency in CRM systems and data-informed strategy development, are essential attributes for the ideal candidate.
