Job Summary

The Senior Director advises on the direction and strategy for all divisions contained within the Mill Entrepreneurship Center in collaboration with the Dean of the Gail Miller Business School. Those divisions include Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, the Mill Co-working/incubator space, Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Global Business Center, and Conference Center, Refugee Leadership Adult and Youth programs as well as various initiatives and programs related to Everyday Entrepreneur Program.

The Senior Director is responsible for growth and revenue generation across all divisions. The Senior Director plans, coordinates, motivates, evaluates and develops new and existing programs within each division by assuming responsibility for the overall leadership including budgeting, fundraising, administration, personnel and management of the divisions to achieve the College mission. Accountability of operational growth should be well documented with an assessment plan in collaboration with the Dean of the Gail Miller Business School.

The Senior Director will hire, develop and coach personnel in each of the divisions. The Senior Director solves problems within each department by navigating college policy, systems, and coordination with other departments and divisions. Additional program responsibilities include grant writing, fundraising, acquiring sponsorships, writing quarterly and annual reports, and administrative and budget management.

The Senior Director conducts outreach and represents the college and The Mill Entrepreneurship Center by maintaining meaningful relationships with major national, state and community agencies to promote cross referrals, recruitment and outreach, and community and economic development activity. The Senior Director attends events, committee meetings, board meetings, and chamber programs to elevate The Mill Entrepreneurship Center brand and develop new clients, sponsors and revenue.

The Senior Director ensures curriculum and program updates for all training and education programs available to emerging, small and medium-sized businesses. This includes curriculum revisions for Refugee Leadership programs and Global Education courses as well as the Everyday Entrepreneur Program.

The Senior Director actively engages in outreach as well as supervises and directs the activities within The Mill Entrepreneurship Center, which includes marketing functions, website and social media creation and maintenance, presentations, speeches, educational seminars, teaching entrepreneurship classes, both credit and non-credit, and data gathering and reporting for college and grant compliance. The Senior Director manages and participates in community sponsorships, board memberships, and engagement with numerous community and national organizations.

Knowledge of distance education, learning resources, computer systems, and technology.

Sensitivity to the importance of collaborative relationships and problem solving among internal and external College constituents: faculty, staff, administration, business, government, and community.

Knowledge about managing physical spaces, space planning, and client engagement for all aspects related to conference center use and The Mill Entrepreneurship Center facilities in general, including but not limited to scheduling, payment collection, client support, classroom management, technology, and strategic long-term planning.

Provide a high-level of customer service and client interaction at campus events, classes, conferences, and community-related programming.

Minimum qualifications

Master's degree in business or related discipline from a nationally accredited college or university.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, ownership, or C-level leadership.

Demonstrated experience building or developing programs and setting strategic direction.

Financial understanding of complex budget structures to include government or local grant funding structures of public/private entities.

Demonstrated leadership experience in community outreach and leadership in economic development efforts.

Experience in grant development and budget management.

Knowledge and/or experience in building external stakeholder relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching or administrative experience in a comprehensive community college.

Small business ownership or C-level entrepreneurial experience.

Experience in grant writing and grant management.

Strong experience with entrepreneurship models and ecosystems.

5+ years managing diverse programs and teams.

Executive experience with start-up company or Venture Capital backed entity.

Demonstrated experience and connections with economic development and community partners.
