The Senior Director IT - Enterprise IT Applications is an integral member of the IT Digital leadership team. This role is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, modernization, and operational excellence of IDEXX's core intra-enterprise IT applications portfolio, including SAP ERP, connected bolt-on systems, and enterprise platforms supporting Order-to-Cash, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Customer Support processes. This role excludes Commercial (Sales / Marketing) systems such as Salesforce and related commercial platforms.
This role collaborates closely with senior executives, functional leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure enterprise IT solutions are aligned with business outcomes and operational performance objectives. The Senior Director will champion disciplined technical delivery management, platform stability, and continuous modernization, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications that enable IDEXX's growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Applications Strategy & Roadmap • Translate enterprise business priorities into actionable application strategies and multi-year roadmaps across ERP and core enterprise platforms. • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and Customer Support leaders to ensure technology investments directly enable measurable business outcomes. • Align application architecture, integration strategy, and data flows with enterprise standards and long-term modernization objectives.
Technical Delivery Management • Establish and enforce strong delivery governance across enterprise application programs and releases. • Lead large-scale, cross-functional transformation initiatives spanning Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Manufacturing execution, and Customer Support enablement. • Drive predictable execution through disciplined planning, risk management, release management, and measurable value realization. • Balance speed of delivery with architectural integrity, cybersecurity, compliance, and operational resilience.
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Partnership • Serve as a trusted partner to business executives and functional leaders. • Ensure co-ownership of outcomes between IT and business stakeholders. • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business impact narratives for executives. • Facilitate prioritization trade-offs to ensure investments align with enterprise KPIs and financial targets.
Operational Excellence & Service Reliability • Own production support model, SLAs, and application performance metrics. • Ensure strong ITIL-aligned service management processes, incident management discipline, and continuous improvement practices. • Strengthen system observability, monitoring, and proactive risk mitigation across enterprise platforms.
Organization & Talent Leadership • Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing enterprise application teams, including functional and technical leads, integration architects, and delivery managers. • Build a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and business partnership. • Foster a mindset of continuous modernization, automation, and process optimization.
Governance, Risk & Compliance • Ensure enterprise applications meet regulatory, financial controls, and cybersecurity requirements. • Partner with Internal Audit, Risk, and Security teams to maintain compliance across global operations. • Maintain strong change control governance across mission-critical systems.
What You Will Need To Succeed:
Location: We are looking for someone within local driving distance to our Westbrook, Maine HQ who can work hybrid on-site a minimum of 8 days per month. We are also open to someone who would relocate to this area.
