Our client in the medical sector is seeking a Senior Director, Insurance & Claims to lead and oversee the organization’s insurance programs, self-insured entities, and the management of professional liability and general claims. This role partners with internal leadership and external advisors to develop risk mitigation strategies, guide insurance decision-making, and support loss prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of self-insured programs and insurance policies, including funding, actuarial analysis, and coordination with boards and service providers
  • Direct claims and litigation management for all insurance lines, supervising claims staff and coordinating with legal counsel and third-party administrators
  • Ensure timely reporting, reserve monitoring, and proper documentation of claims; approve legal and administrative expenditures related to claims
  • Collaborate with internal departments, brokers, consultants, and underwriters on risk financing, insurance renewals, and coverage strategies
  • Collect, analyze, and report enterprise-wide claims and risk data to leadership and governing boards
  • Advise on risk management and insurance requirements in contracts, agreements, and operational procedures
  • Participate in committees and initiatives to provide guidance on risk mitigation and regulatory compliance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, law, or health professions preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, claims management, and insurance coverage, preferably in healthcare or complex organizational environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, collaborate across functions, and achieve results
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Expertise in risk management, claims handling, and insurance programs
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively at all levels of an organization
