Job Summary

The Senior Director, Finance PMO is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and governance of complex, cross‑functional programs that support Finance priorities across the enterprise. This role ensures delivery of high‑impact initiatives by establishing strong program management discipline, driving execution rigor, and enabling alignment across business, technology, and operational stakeholders.

The role operates as a trusted partner to senior Finance and Technology leaders, translating strategic objectives into executable roadmaps while proactively managing risk, dependencies, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead the Finance and PMO portfolio, overseeing large‑scale, multi‑year programs with significant business, regulatory, and financial impact.

  • Establish and maintain program governance, delivery standards, reporting, and controls to ensure predictable execution and transparency.

  • Drive prioritization and sequencing of initiatives in partnership with Finance and Technology leadership.

Strategic Execution & Delivery

  • Translate strategic objectives into clear program plans, milestones, and success metrics.

  • Anticipate, surface, and resolve risks, issues, and dependencies across highly matrixed teams.

  • Ensure programs deliver measurable business outcomes aligned to Finance priorities.

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

  • Serve as a senior advisor and thought partner to Finance and Technology leaders.

  • Provide concise, executive‑level communications and recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums.

  • Influence across organizations without direct authority to drive alignment and decision‑making.

Team & Capability Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior program managers and PMO resources.

  • Build and sustain high standards for program management excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results‑driven execution.

AI, Automation & Data‑Driven Enablement

  • Lead the adoption of AI‑enabled and automation capabilities within the PMO, reducing manual effort and increasing transparency, speed, and predictability.

  • Leverage data, analytics, and intelligent tooling to improve forecasting accuracy, automate reporting, and surface proactive insights for executives and delivery teams.

  • Champion experimentation and continuous improvement through digital enablement, ensuring PMO practices evolve with emerging technologies.

Operational Excellence

  • Continuously improve PMO processes, tools, and ways of working to increase efficiency and delivery effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise policies, controls, and governance requirements relevant to Finance programs.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 15+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience 

Experience supporting Finance, Legal, or regulated business functions in a global enterprise.

Background in technology‑enabled business transformation or large‑scale enterprise initiatives.

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and recommendations.

Leadership & Program Management Expertise

  • Proven experience leading large, complex, cross‑functional programs in a highly matrixed enterprise environment.

  • Deep understanding of program and portfolio management practices, governance, and execution frameworks.

Business Acumen

  • Strong understanding of Finance operating environments, risks, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Ability to connect strategy to execution and articulate tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders.

Influence & Communication

  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes across diverse teams and senior leadership levels.

  • Experience supporting Finance or regulated business functions in a global enterprise.

  • Background in technology‑enabled business transformation or large‑scale enterprise initiatives.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and recommendations.

The estimated salary range for this position is $229,000.00 to $ 400,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
