Senior Database Administrator

Systems Integration and Development, Inc. (SID) is an award-winning IT solutions provider located in Rockville, MD and is seeking a Senior Database Administrator. This is a full-time position based in Suitland, MD. This is a remote role with some travel required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications.
  • Manage SQL Server Databases: Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Performance tuning, backup and recovery strategy, patching, DR plans.
  • SQL Development: Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as a troubleshooting expert for the SQL Server, resolving difficult and complex issues, and escalating them when necessary.
  • Monitor: Regularly monitor system performance metrics to ensure the database runs smoothly and efficiently.

Skills & Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science, IT, or related field or Equivilent.
  • 5-7 years of experience as an SQL Server DBA or similar role.
  • Proficient in MS SQL and the latest versions.
  • Familiarity with tools like SQL Profiler.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiling, SSMS, SAC, SSCM).
  • MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications are a plus.
