Summary:

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on contractor to join the Market & Counterparty Regulatory Reporting team. This role sits at the intersection of risk subject matter expertise, data engineering, and automation, with a focus on modernizing regulatory reporting processes (e.g., FR Y-14Q, CCAR).

Over the past several years, the organization has invested heavily in building out its data infrastructure. The next phase is focused on optimizing, automating, and enhancing data quality and reporting capabilities, including leveraging AI and modern analytics platforms.

This individual will play a critical role in:

  • Understanding and deconstructing existing reporting processes

  • Identifying inefficiencies and manual dependencies

  • Designing and driving scalable automation solutions

  • Partnering with technology teams to deliver production-ready solutions

Responsibilities:

Process Analysis & SME Partnership

  • Partner with Market Risk and Counterparty Risk SMEs to understand end-to-end regulatory reporting workflows (data sourcing ? transformation ? aggregation ? submission)

  • Document current-state processes, controls, and dependencies

  • Identify:

  • Manual touchpoints and inefficiencies

  • Data lineage and reconciliation gaps

  • Opportunities for standardization and automation

Automation & Solution Design

  • Design future-state automated solutions aligned with enterprise technology strategy

  • Translate business processes into scalable technical architectures, including:

  • Data pipelines

  • Aggregation frameworks

  • Reporting layers

  • Evaluate modernization opportunities such as:

  • Migration from legacy SQL-heavy processes to modern frameworks

  • Consolidation of fragmented workflows into structured platforms

  • Ensure solutions improve:

  • Scalability and performance

  • Data accuracy and auditability

  • Regulatory compliance

  • Develop detailed requirements in Jira, including:

  • Epics, features, and user stories

  • Acceptance criteria aligned to regulatory standards

  • Act as a bridge between business and technology, translating SME knowledge into executable work

  • Partner closely with developers to:

  • Refine backlog items

  • Clarify requirements

  • Support testing and validation

  • Drive full delivery lifecycle: Design ? Build ? Test ? Deploy

Requirements & Agile Delivery

  • Develop detailed requirements in Jira, including:

  • Epics, features, and user stories

  • Acceptance criteria aligned to regulatory standards

  • Act as a bridge between business and technology, translating SME knowledge into executable work

  • Partner closely with developers to:

  • Refine backlog items

  • Clarify requirements

  • Support testing and validation

  • Drive full delivery lifecycle: Design ? Build ? Test ? Deploy

Data Engineering & Architecture Oversight

  • Work within complex reporting ecosystems involving:

  • Large-scale relational datasets

  • Risk aggregation frameworks

  • Ensure robustness across:

  • Data integrity and reconciliation

  • Transformation logic

  • Performance optimization

  • Contribute to overall data architecture strategy

Reporting & Visualization Enablement

  • Leverage tools such as:

  • Power BI

  • Tableau (as applicable)

  • Enable:

  • Automated report generation

  • Self-service analytics

  • Improved transparency into risk metrics

AI & Emerging Technology Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI/GenAI and advanced analytics into reporting workflows

  • Evaluate platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or similar ecosystems

  • Apply AI capabilities for:

  • Process automation

  • Data validation and anomaly detection

  • Documentation and reporting efficiencies

  • Ensure alignment with governance, risk, and compliance standards

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • Expert-level SQL

  • Deep understanding of query design, stored procedures, and performance tuning

  • Must have built solutions and understand the how and why behind the code

  • Experience with modern data platforms/tools, such as:

  • Microsoft Fabric (preferred)

  • Python

  • Power BI

  • Strong understanding of:

  • Data architecture and infrastructure

  • ETL and pipeline development

  • Scalable data processing frameworks

  • Experience in one of the following backgrounds:

  • Data Analyst / Business Analyst who learned to code

  • Developer with strong business-facing experience

  • Ability to:

  • Deeply understand business processes

  • Translate them into automation and technical solutions

  • Regulatory experience preferred:

  • Market Risk / Counterparty Risk

  • Regulatory reporting (FR Y-14Q, CCAR, Basel)

  • Stress testing and risk aggregation

  • Proven ability to:

  • Identify automation opportunities

  • Design and implement process improvements

  • Strong experience with:

  • Jira (writing detailed user stories and requirements)

  • Agile or hybrid delivery environments
