Overview:

This is an in office role and will be located in the Raleigh and Durham Data Centers.

 

This senior level position leads daily onsite efforts to maintain functionality of equipment within the Banks Data Centers. Ensures all electrical, mechanical, fire, and life safety equipment is fully operational through inspection, maintenance, and repair. Responds immediately to emergency issues and monitors onsite vendors when consultation is necessary. Provides advanced technical support to data center activities by maintaining critical equipment uptime and resolving work order requests. Provides guidance and leadership in daily activities to critical facility technicians and base building technicians and serves as a point of contact for facility infrastructure needs.

 

This position reports to the Supervisor of Critical Facilities, whilst assisting or leading the Team of Critical Facility Technicians.

Responsibilities:
  • Facility Technical Support - Maintains equipment critical to the operating abilities, health and safety, and emergency response through regular inspection, conducting repairs, and addressing work order requests. Manages preventative maintenance activities and assists with contractor scheduling and also assists with facility inspections and reports. Possesses advanced knowledge of and familiarity with data center equipment. Supports critical equipment that must maintain better than 100% uptime.
  • Team Coordination - Partners with business units, managers, and other stakeholders on planned and completed work, risks, and impacts. Communicates clearly to identify and respond to ongoing equipment issues, and updates appropriately upon resolution.
  • Emergency Response - Responsible for being on-call in emergency work situations and inclement weather.
  • Vendor Management - Assists in vendor training and daily direction. Provides oversight including effective work order communications, service ticket management, performance and accountability monitoring, and vendor procurement activities.
  • Report to the Primary and/or Secondary Data Centers in Raleigh-Durham areas.
Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical or mechanical systems within Data Center environments

 OR

High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical or mechanical systems within Data Center environments

 

Preferred Education: Relevant Military experience, Technical Trade Schools, Qualified Certifications

 

Preferred Area of Study: Relevant Military Studies, HVAC/R Technology, Industrial Refrigeration, or Mechanical Engineering,Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Electrical Technology

 

Preferred Area of Experience: Data center technician, senior level experience managing others in critical environments, advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting, predictive maintenance experience, and operational leadership

 

License or Certification types, preferred: Valid NC Driver's License, EPA 608-Universal

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical support systems within a Data Center,
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb and work off a ladder, and use safety gear,
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in environments with fumes, noise, cold, heat, etc.,
  • Ability to travel. Position requires frequent driving to other offices, bank customers, etc.,
  • Residence within 60 miles or 60 minutes of the assigned Critical Facility
  • Current contractor/contingent worker for First Citizens Bank

Shift Schedule:

Wed/Thurs 4 PM to 12 AM -

Sat/Sun 12 AM to 12 PM
