Location: Dallas, TX (Greater Dallas Area)
Job Type: Full-time
Industry: Plastics Manufacturing / Automation
Are you a Controls Engineer who speaks fluent PLC, dreams in ladder logic, and knows exactly how to optimize a 500-ton press for peak efficiency? If you’re ready to own the automation strategy for a high-volume injection molding operation, we want to talk to you.
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our automated manufacturing systems. In this role, you won't just be maintaining the status quo—you will be the architectural brain behind our programming, robotics integration, and troubleshooting protocols.
From optimizing cycle times to leading complex capital expenditure (CapEx) automation projects, your expertise will directly impact our operational efficiency and technological evolution.
Program & Optimize: Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, etc.) and HMI systems from scratch, as well as modify existing code.
Robotics Integration: Integrate, program, and maintain 3-axis and 6-axis robotics (Fanuc, Sepro, Wittmann, or similar) used for part removal, degating, and packaging.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with tooling and molding engineers to minimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and implement Industry 4.0/SCADA solutions.
Hardware & Systems: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues on injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.
Project Leadership: Manage automation projects from concept to commissioning, including budgeting, vendor management, and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
Mentor & Train: Serve as the technical subject matter expert, mentoring maintenance technicians and junior engineers on advanced controls troubleshooting.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (equivalent hands-on experience will be considered).
Experience:5+ years of dedicated controls engineering experience, with a strong preference for background in plastic injection molding or high-volume automated manufacturing.
Technical Mastery:
Deep proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, TIA Portal, etc.).
Hands-on experience with injection molding machinery (e.g., Engel, Husky, Cincinnati Milacron, KraussMaffei).
Familiarity with cavity pressure monitoring systems (e.g., RJG eDart) is a major plus.
Strong understanding of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) and safety standards (OSHA, RIA).
Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and prefers being out on the floor making things work over sitting behind a desk all day.
Competitive Salary & Performance Bonuses
Comprehensive Benefits Package (Medical, dental, vision, 401k match, and generous PTO)
Tech Investment: We believe in giving our engineers the tools and modern technology they need to succeed.
Growth Trajectory: You will have a visible impact on our facility's footprint and a clear path for professional advancement.
