JOB TITLE: Senior Control Engineer (Site Support)
LOCATION: Austin TX, Seattle WA, San Francisco CA, or NYC preferred. Open to reviewing remote but must be open to up to 50% travel.
DURATION: 8+ month long contract, strong potential for extension, conversion, etc.
RATE RANGE: Market rate but target $95-130/hr
**TOP SKILLS:**
• B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (PE preferred).
• 7+ years of industrial control systems experience.
• Expertise with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, heat trace controls, and industrial networks.
• Proficiency in ladder logic, function block, and related programming.
• Experience with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, Thermon.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and commission advanced control systems for industrial applications such as heat tracing, pump control, and valve automation. This senior role combines technical expertise with team leadership, overseeing complex projects and ensuring solutions meet client needs and industry standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
• Lead design and implementation of control systems (heat tracing, pump control, valve automation).
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the controls team.
• Develop system architectures, functional specs, heat trace designs, and detailed controls.
• Program/configure PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems.
• Design control panels; specify instrumentation and hardware.
• Develop points lists, control sequences and HMI dashboards for liquid-cooling loops and rack-level telemetry.
• Produce control bill-of-materials, sequence-of-operations and commissioning scripts.
• Conduct site walkdowns, simulations, FAT, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing systems for performance and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (PE preferred).
• 7+ years of industrial control systems experience.
• Expertise with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, heat trace controls, and industrial networks.
• Proficiency in ladder logic, function block, and related programming.
• Experience with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, Thermon.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for projects.
Nice to Have
• Experience managing large-scale control projects.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Knowledge of emerging automation technologies.
