General Summary of Position
The Sr. Consultant Finance Transformation & Special Projects serves as an internal consultant to the Finance leadership team and operational executives. This role is responsible for driving high-impact finance transformation initiatives, leading priority special projects, conducting complex financial analysis, and supporting system-wide strategic decision-making. The role combines strong finance process knowledge, consulting-style problem-solving, executive-ready communication, and advanced analytic capabilities. This individual will also support business development activities for the Finance function, evaluating new opportunities, building business cases, and supporting cross-functional initiatives that advance financial performance and organizational strategy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Finance Transformation & Process Improvement
• Assesses current-state finance processes across accounting, AP, payroll, close, reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and business partnering. • Identifies pain points, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. • Develops future-state workflows, process maps, and recommendations aligned with best practices and healthcare operations. • Supports implementation of automation and technology enhancements (ERP, reporting tools, RPA, AI/ML).
Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives
• Leads high-visibility CFO-sponsored special projects (e.g., labor productivity initiatives, service line profitability studies, capital prioritization, operational redesign). • Conducts rapid problem-solving to support emerging needs across the organization. • Builds business cases, financial models, and ROI assessments for potential initiatives. • Manages cross-functional workstreams with Finance, Operations, Strategy, IT, HR, and clinical departments. • Prepares executive-level materials for steering committees, board meetings, or enterprise strategy reviews.
Data Analysis Modeling & Insight Generation
• Analyzes large financial and operational datasets to identify trends and insights. • Builds advanced financial models to quantify improvement opportunities and evaluate scenarios. • Translates data into actionable recommendations, dashboards, and summaries for leadership.
Executive Communication & Leadership Engagement
• Develops high-quality executive presentations and narrative documents for the CFO, Finance leadership team, and senior executives. • Presents findings clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at all levels. • Facilitates workshops, interviews, and cross-functional working sessions.
Project Management & Delivery Excellence
• Supports intake prioritization and scoping of new projects in the Finance Transformation Office. • Develops project charters, timelines, and detailed execution plans. • Tracks risks, dependencies, and milestones for multiple concurrent initiatives. • Monitors benefit realization and ensures projects deliver measurable outcomes. • Maintains a high standard of consulting-quality deliverables, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
• Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. • Masters degree, MBA, MHA, or other graduate degree with a healthcare concentration preferred.
Experience
• 5-7 years of experience in Management consulting, Finance transformation, Healthcare finance, FP&A, accounting, or a hybrid finance/strategy role required. • Prior experience in a healthcare provider organization. • Familiarity with Healthcare Finance Technology, ERP reporting tools, AI/ML, or workflow automation technologies. • Lean/Six Sigma or project management certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and other key finance technology (ERP, EPM, Costing). • Demonstrated capability in financial modeling and advanced analytics. • Strong understanding of healthcare finance processes and performance drivers. • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong executive presence. • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects in complex organizations. • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and managing evolving priorities. • Consistent delivery of high-quality on-time work. • Collaborates effectively across diverse stakeholders.
This position has a hiring range of USD $82,617.00 - USD $157,352.00 /Yr.
