Job DescriptionA Senior Consultant Civil Engineer will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will be part of the Civil Design service line that supports WSP's power, industrial, and municipal clientele across the southeast.The position relies heavily on the ability to interact with clients, team leadership skills, and technical knowledge. The successful candidate will work on a breadth of civil projects ranging from erosion and sediment control plans, spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans, hydraulics and hydrology design, civil grading, and landfill design and closure projects. This position will provide oversight and leadership to small to medium project design teams. It will juggle multiple projects and adjust to a variety of priorities.As a civil engineer, the candidate will be responsible for the execution of calculations, design options, reports, agency reviews, and construction drawings for civil design projects. The candidate will have a strong desire to interact with clients and foster long lasting relationships.Your ImpactManage and direct small to medium project design teamsPrepare scope of work and costing documents for proposalsCoordinate with other senior engineering staff, lead junior team members, project stakeholders and other disciplines to manage an organized approach to project executionPerform professional civil engineering work including design of erosion and sediment control measures in compliance with state requirements, SPCC plans, site grading using AutoCAD Civil3D, hydraulic systems (closed and open conduits), hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management facilitiesPrepare permit applications and respond to agency (owner) comments in designPrepare construction drawings and specifications to implement designsPrepare client ready reports and drawingsEvaluate design options and understand cost/benefit of solutionsTrain and mentor junior staffBe proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint softwareOccasional travel may be required depending on project specific requirementsWho You AreRequired QualificationsMinimum Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer registration in North Carolina, or ability to obtain within one year5-7 years of professional engineering experience (not including school)Valid state driver's license.
