Job Description:
This role will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction of capital/maintenance projects.
Examples of Duties:
- Reviews plans, details, and specifications for capital/maintenance projects, and provides advice and comments as to technical approach and adequacy.
- Leads the implementation of capital/maintenance projects from design through construction, including any or all of the following: preparation of total project budget; selection of design professionals; direction of design process through schematic design, design development and construction documents; bidding, negotiation and award of contract.
- Manages the construction process of capital/maintenance projects after implementation, including any or all of the following: mobilization coordination, utility coordination, contract administration throughout construction process (agent for City), approval of pay applications, issuing of change orders and/or directives, ensuring compliance with contract documents through final completion and close-out, and monitoring project through warranty period.
- Assists with long-term maintenance issues related to projects managed.
- Works with the technical review committee as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) or equivalent in architecture, engineering, building science or a related field and 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE), (EIT) or Architectural (RA) License.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
