Senior Commercial Door Systems Technician

At Vortex Doors—America’s most customer‑centric commercial and industrial door repair company—you’ll install, service, and optimize the doors and docks that power retail storefronts, warehouses, and industrial facilities. We’re especially interested in seasoned pros, and we actively consider applicants with 4+ years of door industry experience.

What you’ll do

  • Install, diagnose, and repair a wide range of commercial doors, dock equipment, and associated hardware using the right tools and techniques.
  • Troubleshoot common failures—springs, hinges, locks, rollers, operators, and electrical components—and make safe, lasting fixes. Interested in welding? We can train.
  • Set up and fine‑tune hardware: locks, closers, handles, low‑voltage wiring, and access control systems.
  • Verify every installation meets applicable safety requirements and building codes.
  • Deliver clear, courteous service—explain findings, outline options, and recommend cost‑effective solutions.
  • Document service calls, parts used, and work completed with accurate, timely records.
  • Perform final quality checks to uphold Vortex’s unsurpassed workmanship standards.

What you bring

  • Hiring bonus: up to $3,000 for candidates with commercial or industrial door experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial door service (AAADM certification is a plus).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools; strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Comfort with math involving fractions and precise tape‑measure readings.
  • Safety‑first mindset with knowledge of regulations and adherence to best practices.
  • Computer proficiency for documentation and communications.
  • Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders up to 20 ft, kneel for extended periods, and operate power tools confidently.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills; persuasive when needed and collaborative in any conditions.
  • Rapid, accurate information sharing in fast‑paced settings; detail‑oriented and proud of quality workmanship.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and accountable.

Work schedule and field conditions

  • Full‑time within Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with some overtime and on‑call as needed.
  • Ongoing training as you grow with Vortex; fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle; valid driver’s license required.

Pre‑employment requirement: Must pass Drug test, Background check and Motor Vehicle check
