We’re actively considering technicians with at least 4+ years of door industry experience and welcome seasoned pros ready for complex service work and top-tier craftsmanship.
A day in the life
Your morning starts with a well-equipped company vehicle, a clear schedule, and the freedom to solve problems for customers who count on you. You’ll arrive on-site, assess issues, and restore door systems to safe, reliable operation. From steel roll-ups and sectional doors to dock equipment and storefront hardware, you’ll bring systems back to life—safely, efficiently, and with pride.
What you’ll tackle
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and associated hardware using the right tools for the job.
- Diagnose and complete routine and complex repairs on springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components. Interested in welding? We can train you.
- Set up and fine-tune hardware: locks, handles, closers, low-voltage components, and access control.
- Verify all work meets safety rules and building codes.
- Deliver clear, respectful customer communication—explain findings, outline options, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Document service calls, repairs, and installs with accurate records and reports.
- Perform quality checks to ensure work meets Vortex’s unsurpassed standards.
What you bring
- Hiring bonus! Up to $10,000 with commercial or industrial door experience required
- 3+ years’ experience in the commercial door service industry; we are considering applicants with 4+ years.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AAADM certification is a plus.
- Broad knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, plus strong mechanical aptitude.
- Math skills with fractions and accurate tape-measure reading for precise layout and installs.
- Safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
- General computer literacy.
- Ability to move 50 lbs. or more; frequent lifting, bending, kneeling, and ladder work up to 20’.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills; persuasive when needed.
- Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced setting.
- Reliable and self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
Schedule and field conditions
- Full-time shifts are available between Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday and must be able to work some overtime and on-call hours.
- Ongoing, continuous training as you advance with Vortex.
- Fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Drive a company vehicle; valid driver license required.
- Compliance:Must pass Drug test, Background check and Motor Vehicle check
