A day in this role

You start your shift by collecting laser-cut blanks from our laser department and spreading out the print package. You study complex flat pattern developments and GD&T callouts, plan the bend sequence, calculate bend allowances and setbacks, and choose the right punch/die combination for the alloy and target radius. At the CNC press brake (EsaBend familiarity is a plus), you perform a full independent setup, dial in offsets to account for k-factor and spring-back, and produce a first-article. With calipers, a protractor, and a height gauge, you verify the piece meets tight tolerances of +/-0.005". Only when the first-article is flawless do you move into production, executing controlled changeovers, tracking quality, and maintaining tooling for repeatable results.

What you'll handle

  • Own end-to-end press brake setups without supervision, from tooling selection through first-article approval.
  • Execute precise, complex bends while holding +/-0.005" across stainless, aluminum, and cold rolled steel.
  • Interpret sophisticated blueprints, including GD&T, flat patterns, and notes that impact bend sequence and allowances.
  • Perform rigorous first-article inspections with calipers, protractors, and height gauges; adjust for spring-back and variability.
  • Manage punch and die selection, installation, alignment, and upkeep based on material thickness and required radii.
  • Transform raw, flat parts from the laser department into high-tolerance finished components.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on precision sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Deep command of k-factors, setback, bend allowance, and spring-back across multiple alloys.
  • Proven independence: walk up to a machine with a print and parts, and run the job through completion.
  • A meticulous, measure-twice mindset and clear communication on the floor.
  • Experience with EsaBend controls preferred.
