We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, automate, and support scalable AWS cloud infrastructure in a highly collaborative engineering environment. This role is focused on AWS operations, infrastructure architecture, and infrastructure-as-code automation rather than traditional deployment or pipeline troubleshooting. The ideal candidate brings strong AWS operational expertise, hands-on Terraform experience, and a solid understanding of cloud security, governance, and cost optimization principles.

Responsibilities
  • Automate cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, primarily Terraform.
  • Maintain and modify Terraform modules, including customization of open-source modules.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and shell/bash scripting.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls, IAM policies, encryption standards, and governance guardrails.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-hosted systems.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and software engineering teams to support cloud-native applications, microservices, and serverless architectures.
  • Design and deploy scalable AWS-based infrastructure supporting enterprise applications and services.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and cloud operations issues within AWS environments.
  • Create technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cloud engineering best practices.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting production cloud infrastructure.

Must-Haves
  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering and cloud infrastructure experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, including creating/updating and modifying Terraform modules.
  • Experience automating AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.
  • Strong scripting experience with Python and shell/bash.
  • Strong understanding of AWS architecture, cloud operations, and infrastructure management.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, governance guardrails, and FinOps/cost management concepts.
  • Understanding of networking, security best practices, and cloud infrastructure design principles.
  • AWS SysOps Administrator and/or Solutions Architect certification.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience creating custom Terraform modules.
  • Experience with additional cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
  • Prior Linux systems administration experience.
  • Experience with CloudFormation or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitOps workflows, and IDEs such as Visual Studio Code.
  • Experience with GoLang.6
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST, or GDPR.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small-to-medium technical initiatives.
