Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified mid-level civil engineering technician to join our construction services team and to lead or support field operations on active highway projects.Responsibilities Lead projects and/or perform daily construction inspection on WisDOT highway and bridge projects, ensuring contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and standards.Document field activities, track quantities, and prepare daily inspection reports using WisDOT-approved systems (e.g., AASHTOWare Project).Conduct or observe field testing of materials (concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates) in accordance with WisDOT requirements.Communicate and coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and WisDOT staff to address issues in the field.Perform or support team with project documentation, pay estimates, and plan interpretation.Assist with traffic control checks, erosion control monitoring, and safety compliance.Qualifications Education & Experience Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field6-15+ years of experience in roadway or bridge construction inspectionFamiliarity with WisDOT specifications, standards, and documentation procedures (preferred)Technical Knowledge WisDOT HTCP certifications (Aggregates, Concrete, Asphalt, Density) strongly preferred; ability to obtain if not already certified.Professional Skills Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.Strong oral and written communication skills to work effectively in the field with contractors, WisDOT, and project teams.Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.Computer literacy, including use of relevant communication and file organization software.Interpersonal & Leadership Skills Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with team members & clients.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Other Valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation.Authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
