Description The Power Division focuses on the design and construction of power generation facilities, including fossil, hydrogen, solar, nuclear, and energy storage. Our experience also covers other types of heavy industrial facilities, such as decarbonization, mining, and gas compression. The project diversity that the Power Division offers a wide range of design, project execution, and construction experience. In the Phoenix office, the Power team supports projects in Gas & Heavy Industrial, Mining, and Renewables business lines, offering the opportunity to gain a broad exposure to multiple industries.

The Senior Civil Engineer will lead civil design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Lead Civil Design Lead civil design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.

Prepare Civil Equipment, Packaged Equipment, and Construction Specifications and Data Sheets Prepare civil equipment, packaged equipment, and construction specifications and data sheets, including Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.

Review Civil Vendor Drawings, Data, and Interface with Suppliers, Clients, and Other Engineering Disciplines Review civil vendor drawings, data, and interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.

Participate in Development of Project Schedule, Scope, Budget, Staffing, Planning, and Construction Planning Participate in the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, staffing plans, and construction plans.

Effective Management of Change Orders Responsible for effective management of change orders.

Expert Knowledge and Application Applies expert knowledge of commonly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the civil engineering services industry. Compiles studies and reports. Writes specifications. Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, finds, develops, and non-standard design solutions.

Quality Review and Production Drawings Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project-related data as required by the project managers to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability.

Quality Review of Construction Administration Quality review the construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of materials.

Field Inspections, Installation, Measurements, or Calculations Leads field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.

Prepare and Present Technical Reports Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.

Building Relationships and Customer Satisfaction Builds effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors and develops new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.

Participate in Sales and Marketing Efforts Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify leads and manage key pursuits.

Lead Development of Cost Proposals and Qualification Statements Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

Prepare, Present, and Manage Project Budgets and Cost Estimates Prepare, present, and manage project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.

Provide Leadership Guidance and Instruction Provides leadership guidance and instruction to the civil engineering practice. Mentors and guides less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. May also have a bachelors degree in engineering technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

A Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering may substitute for 1 year of experience.

Minimum of 7 years civil engineering experience required.

EPC project experience strongly preferred.

Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, Revit, Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD, and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.

Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Ability to travel.

Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.

Compensation The expected compensation range for this position is $130,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
