About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. If you want to help us set new standards for the world, this is the place for you.

About the Role

We are looking for a Sr. Category Manager - Facility Services to lead strategic sourcing activities across key service lines including janitorial, waste management, maintenance, and food services. In this role, you will drive initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership for Amazon"s building operations while maintaining best-in-class service delivery.

You will develop and execute category sourcing strategies, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable savings, improve productivity, and create long-term value across the Facility Services portfolio.

Key job responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies in partnership with internal customers, ensuring a unified approach that aligns with business objectives and annual budget processes
  • Build and manage a prioritized portfolio of sourcing initiatives based on impact, complexity, and implementation feasibility in collaboration with business partners
  • Champion standards, process improvements, and new tools to advance Amazon"s procurement capabilities

Sourcing & Negotiation

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including scope development, project management, communication plans, and contract awards
  • Negotiate and re-negotiate complex agreements, statements of work, RFIs, and RFPs to secure optimal outcomes for pricing, service, and quality
  • Partner with legal teams and business unit stakeholders to develop negotiation strategies for the most complex vendor relationships
  • Develop and qualify alternative sources of supply to ensure competitive tension across the supply base

Cost Management & Value Delivery

  • Deliver annual cost savings and value targets aligned with category goals and budget processes
  • Design, implement, and measure cost savings, reduction, and avoidance programs across the category
  • Provide current pricing intelligence and forecasting inputs to support business planning on a rolling 12-month basis

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Earn the trust of key stakeholders to drive alignment and cross-functional collaboration
  • Develop strategic supplier relationships and identify partnership opportunities that deliver long-term value
  • Lead supplier business reviews, monitor performance against contractual terms, and drive resolution of complex issues through effective negotiation
  • Provide subject matter expertise in sourcing and procurement to internal teams and leadership

Risk Mitigation & Governance

  • Maintain full visibility of category spend by site and supplier, including sole/single/dual/multiple source classification
  • Identify supply chain risks and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place, including backup suppliers, alternative production sites, consignment arrangements, and inventory strategies
  • Communicate risk exposure to stakeholders and execute mitigation recommendations
  • Maintain and govern the approved supplier list by category and site in accordance with design specifications

Reporting & Metrics

  • Define and report on key metrics that measure supply effectiveness, cost performance, and category health
  • Track and communicate progress against savings targets, supplier performance, and strategic milestones

Travel Requirement

This role requires up to 30% travel.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
