The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Biologist to lead and support biological field efforts and permitting activities within our growing Energy Practice. This role focuses on routing, siting, and permitting for renewable and conventional energy projects, including wind, solar, battery energy storage (BESS), transmission lines, substations, and natural gas infrastructure.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversee field teams, and support project delivery across the Southwest region.
Location: Remote (Preference: TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT, or Southwest CO)

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
10+ years of relevant experience, including biological fieldwork
Experience in one or more of the following states: TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT
Strong background in:
Ecological assessments and environmental impact analysis
Habitat conservation planning and biological resource management
Environmental permitting for energy projects
Experience with wildlife, bat, and avian permitting
Experience with BGEPA (eagle take permitting), ECPs, and EITPs
Strong technical writing and analytical skills
Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with BLM offices in AZ, NV, UT, or NM
Experience with USFWS and state-listed species, such as:
Mexican spotted owl
Cactus ferruginous pygmy-owl
Utah prairie dog
Mojave desert tortoise
Houston toad
Experience with Clean Water Act (Sections 401/404)
Training in wetland delineation (USACE standards)
Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $100,000-$125,000 annually
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
