Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field; three years of experience in the implementation and support of business information systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with Microsoft SQL, Python, Business Intelligence Tools, and data visualization, preferred but not required. Considerable knowledge of concepts of microcomputer technology and related software; of principles of office automation systems. Ability to analyze difficult business problems for potential automation solutions; to lead and/or coordinate large automation projects; to document processes and procedures and develop training documentation; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to supervise lower level technical and non-technical staff. Preferred skills include the ability to analyze multiple data sources on both a department and enterprise level for the purpose of leveraging data and informing staff in new and innovative ways. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of illegal drugs, and/or the use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Employees must not consume or be under the influence of alcohol while on duty, on work premises, or operating agency equipment. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or be a lawful permanent resident eligible for naturalization.

Duties

Continually search for methods of improving, writing and/or designing programs from automated police files. Assess data systems architecture for accessibility impacts and/or opportunities for enhancements to improve information access, CADS (Motorola Computer Aided Dispatch System), RMS (Motorola Police Records Management System), UKG Telestaff, Police Information Data Warehouse (PODS), and other related data sources. Develop, maintain, and enhance information reports and dashboards, using SQL, Power BI, and others so that a variety of key department performance measures can be quickly accessed and monitored by personnel at various levels within the organization. Understand, comprehend, and when needed, create manuals pertaining to various systems in the police department. Stay up to date with new information system/software products and ensure accurate information is being distributed and accessed department wide. Perform other work as required. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
