Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Associate Vice President of Advancement; the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Advancement provides strategic leadership for all athletic fundraising efforts at the University of Indianapolis. This role is responsible for securing major, planned, and annual gifts in support of Athletics while overseeing the Greyhound Club annual fund and related fundraising initiatives. 

The Senior Associate Athletic Director of Advancement develops and executes innovative fundraising strategies to drive growth in donor participation and philanthropic revenue, strengthen alumni and donor engagement, and advance institutional priorities. This position serves as a key liaison between Athletics and Advancement and requires the ability to analyze, communicate, and manage complex information with diverse stakeholders. A high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, independence, and sound judgment is essential.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Experience 

  • Five or more years of progressive major gift fundraising experience
  • Prior experience fundraising for collegiate athletics required
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and managing donor relationships 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred 

Licenses/Certifications/Credentials 

  • Valid Driver’s License 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Senior Associate Athletic Director of Advancement supervises the  Associate Director of Athletic Engagement, graduate assistants, and student workers in support of Greyhound Club fundraising and engagement operations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Secure major, planned, and annual gifts from alumni, parents, fans, and friends of the University in support of Athletics.
  • Responsible for securing major gifts, ultimately reaching a minimum of $1M in gift commitments annually.
  • Complete a minimum of 120 visits annually with donors and prospects, including at least 40 discovery visits.
  • Be an active member of the greater Indianapolis community to cultivate new and existing local donors and prospects.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Greyhound Club annual fund, including membership growth, renewals, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing an athletic annual giving program, including developing targeted appeals, engaging alumni and supporters, and achieving year-over-year participation and revenue goals.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the Athletics Department and the Office of Advancement.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive annual giving and major giving strategies, in consultation with the Athletic Director and coaches. This should include athletic strategic funding priorities, sport-specific giving, crowdfunding, events, and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff and Athletics coaches to plan and execute UIndy Day fundraising strategies.
  • Guide and support fundraising events such as golf outing(s), online auction, and donor engagement activities.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for the Greyhound Club Board and volunteer committee(s).
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors and prospects locally and regionally.
  • Develop, analyze, and manage budgets for Greyhound Club operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge, GiveCampus, and other CRM tools in accordance with Advancement standards and University policy to maintain accurate donor records.
  • Participate in athletics external team meetings and relevant Advancement meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies, Advancement policies, NCAA Division II and GLVC regulations, and all applicable federal and state laws. Attends NCAA rules education and Title IX sessions.
  • Represent the University of Indianapolis in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Stay informed of University initiatives related to athletics, academics, and institutional priorities.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
