Join the overnight crew that keeps automation moving

Picture your shift: the lights are low, the system hums, and a sensor alert pings. You trace the fault across an Automated Storage and Retrieval System, swap a fieldbus node, realign a photo-eye, reload PLC parameters, and watch product flow resume. That’s a night well spent as our Automation Technician III.

Schedule and pay

  • Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 PM–8:30 AM
  • Base pay: $29–$40 per hour
  • Night premium: +$1.00 per hour for hours worked 5 PM–5 AM

What you’ll do each night

  • Own the health of our Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS)—from systems to subsystems—driving rapid recovery to service by performing deep-dive troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and controls issues and communicating repair status and timelines to leadership.
  • Diagnose and replace fieldbus communication components on conveyor systems, including addressing devices and running network diagnostics.
  • Perform mechanical service on conveyors: fix chains and belting, change rollers and drive motors, and realign or replace control system sensors (photo-eyes), proximity sensors, and related devices.
  • Load/restore software parameters for Allen‑Bradley PLC product lines; service industrial PCs and server-based controls; reprogram and align electronic sensors as needed.
  • Execute Preventive Maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, calibration, and adjustments on multi‑axis robotic arms and End‑of‑Arm Tools; complete PM routines on automated conveyor equipment.
  • Document all work—repairs, PMs, parts used, and labor time—via work orders in our CMMS (Maximo). Keep work areas clean and remove replaced parts after repairs.
  • Mentor and assist other automation technicians, sharing troubleshooting methods and repair best practices.

  • Advanced Allen‑Bradley PLC and industrial network troubleshooting skills
  • Welding with stick or MIG a plus
  • Physical capability for inspections and repairs: walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, carrying tools and parts
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiency and the ability to work independently from procedures and manuals

Experience and education

  • 5–7 years: Read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics, mechanical diagrams, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns; understand complex automated system drawings and component spec sheets
