Senior Architectural Design Technician 

Location: Manassas, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Design Technician for an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Manassas, Virginia. This position is ideal for a highly skilled design professional with extensive experience supporting industrial and high-tech facility projects, including semiconductor manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, providing architectural design expertise, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed architectural layouts and construction documentation for industrial and high-tech facilities.
  • Create and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software.
  • Lead architectural modeling efforts and coordinate designs across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Perform comprehensive model reviews using Navisworks and Bluebeam to identify clashes, constructability issues, and design improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, process, facilities, construction, and project management teams throughout the design process.
  • Evaluate technical challenges, develop multiple design solutions, and present recommendations to project leadership and clients.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of project scope, schedule, and budget while identifying potential scope changes and communicating them proactively.
  • Break projects into logical work tasks, develop labor estimates, and support project planning activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Serve as a project lead designer on assigned projects.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior designers and technicians.
  • Promote design quality, consistency, and implementation of industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies, Computer Drafting and Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial building design, semiconductor facilities, or other advanced manufacturing/high-tech environments.
  • Extensive experience creating architectural models and construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong experience performing model coordination and clash detection using Navisworks and Bluebeam.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead architectural design efforts on complex projects.
  • Thorough understanding of architectural design principles, construction documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate multiple technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced 3D modeling and clash detection workflows.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor equipment layouts, tool installation requirements, and cleanroom environments.
  • Familiarity with safety, regulatory, and quality standards applicable to high-tech manufacturing facilities.
  • Demonstrated history of successfully delivering multiple complex design projects for a variety of clients.
