The Senior Application Developer is responsible for the design, development, enhancement, integration, and production support. This role partners with business, operations, QA, product, and project stakeholders to deliver scalable workflow capabilities that support complex healthcare claims dispute processes across multiple review stages, including technical, support, clinical, management, hub, and legal functions.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role expected to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing support, release implementation, defect resolution, and operational stability. The ideal candidate combines strong application development skills with the ability to translate nuanced business rules into reliable workflow-driven solutions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build, enhance, and maintain functionality of applications supported by our department.
Translate business requirements and sprint-level enhancements into technical designs and production-ready code.
Develop and support application features and enhancements as determined by our business stakeholders
Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to refine requirements, clarify edge cases, and ensure application behavior aligns with operational workflows.
Perform database design and development activities including stored procedures, queries, data validation, and performance tuning for workflow-related entities
Support integration points and APIs used by the application and related processes, as indicated by the technical documentation and API artifacts.
Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root cause, and deliver timely defect fixes and application support in coordination with operations and support teams.
Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, code reviews, testing support, release readiness, and post-deployment validation.
Collaborate closely with QA, scrum, project management, and operational support teams to ensure successful delivery and stable application performance.
Technical Requirements
5 or more years of application development experience, with at least 2 years or more in a senior or lead-level delivery role.
Experience building and supporting workflow-centric enterprise applications with complex validation rules and role-based access.
Strong experience with ASP.NET MVC / C# / .NET or a comparable Microsoft application stack.
Strong experience with SQL Server or comparable relational databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Experience designing or supporting APIs, service integrations, and data exchange processes.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments with backlogs, sprint-based requirements, QA coordination, and release management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret detailed business requirements and convert them into maintainable technical solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with production support, operational support models, and issue trend analysis.
Experience working with distributed delivery teams including vendor and offshore resources.
Experience supporting healthcare revenue cycle, claims, denials, underpayments, appeals, or dispute resolution workflows.
Experience supporting healthcare revenue cycle, claims, denials, underpayments, appeals, or dispute resolution workflows is preferred.
Experience with document generation, printable/export views, CSV exports, and advanced search/filter capabilities is preferred.
Experience supporting legal or compliance-related workflow steps and audit-sensitive application behavior is preferred.

Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
