Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to join our team and lead development for a high-visibility Generative AI initiative focused on document summarization and chatbot capabilities across multiple lines of business. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in end-to-end GenAI solution delivery, data management, and Python engineering, and a proven ability to translate business strategy into actionable, governed AI solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement scalable GenAI applications for summarization and conversational assistants.
- Lead solution architecture for data ingestion, storage, retrieval, and model serving across large document volumes and types.
- Implement and optimize LLM inferencing using transformer pipelines, vLLM, and related tooling.
- Build agentic workflows using LangGraph and orchestration frameworks to operationalize AI use cases.
- Develop RAG pipelines with high-quality embeddings and vector databases for enterprise search and Q&A.
- Establish evaluation, observability, and monitoring with frameworks such as RAGAS, LangSmith, and Phoenix (Arize).
- Deliver solutions compliant with Model Risk Management and Model Governance, including documentation and monitoring controls.
- Create robust APIs and services using REST, FastAPI, and WebSockets for integration with enterprise systems.
- Provide technical leadership, assign work, resolve issues, and mentor team members and partners.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expertise with LLMs such as Llama, Mixtral, and Mistral, and inferencing via transformer pipelines and vLLM.
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks (LangGraph) and LLM development libraries (LangChain, LlamaIndex).
- Proficiency in embedding models such as all-MiniLM-L6-v2 and all-mpnet-base-v2, and vector search design.
- Evaluation and monitoring experience using RAGAS, LangSmith, and Phoenix (Arize) with clear metrics and reporting.
- Strong programming skills in Python and service development with REST, FastAPI, and WebSockets.
- Data platforms experience with Enterprise Redis Database, Qdrant, and Cockroach.
- Model Risk Management and Model Governance experience, including authoring model documentation and building monitoring capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in an IS/IT or quantitative field, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of related IT experience. 2+ years in GenAI projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Angular for building front-end interfaces that integrate with GenAI services.
- Experience with Slurm, Hadoop/Hive, Apache Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, and Neo4j.
- Background in machine learning techniques, classifiers, and statistical methods.
- Advanced degree in mathematics, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Prior delivery of enterprise-scale AI projects with clear articulation of benefits, costs, and risks.
