Position Overview

Join the Cumberland County Board of Elections and play a vital role in supporting fair, accurate, and transparent elections that serve our community. As a Senior Administrative Specialist, you will be responsible for managing critical election processes, including absentee ballot administration, voter district verification, petition processing, and election supply coordination. This position offers the opportunity to work behind the scenes to ensure election integrity, maintain accurate voter information, and support compliance with state election laws. Examples of Duties

  • Receive, verify, and process absentee ballot requests submitted by mail, email, fax, and other approved methods in accordance with state election laws and procedures

  • Communicate with voters regarding absentee ballot requests, eligibility requirements, application status, and election-related inquiries

  • Enter, update, and maintain absentee voter information and registration data within the State Election Information Management System (SEIMS)

  • Prepare, assemble, and distribute absentee ballot packets to voters through mail and electronic delivery methods while ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Maintain detailed absentee ballot logs and tracking records to support election audits, reporting requirements, and ballot accountability

  • Monitor, inventory, and replenish absentee voting supplies and mailing materials before, during, and after election periods

  • Receive, process, secure, and document returned absentee ballots, including mailed, faxed, and electronically submitted ballots, in compliance with established procedures

  • Scan, manually enter, and update absentee ballot activity in SEIMS to ensure voter records are complete, accurate, and current

  • Prepare absentee ballot documentation, reports, and audit materials for Board of Elections meetings, canvasses, and post-election reviews

  • Maintain voter address and district information by researching and verifying precinct assignments, resolving geocode conflicts, updating records due to annexations or redistricting, and utilizing GIS mapping tools, Google Earth, and other geographic resources

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) year of experience in the assigned program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary additional requirements: Successful completion of Keyboarding, Data Entry, Customer Service, Basic Word, and Basic Excel tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.

Conditions of Employment:
