    About the Opportunity

    We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to join a publicly traded organization in Savannah, GA. This role is ideal for a strong accounting leader with public company experience, SEC reporting exposure, SOX experience, and a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP.

    The Senior Accounting Manager will provide leadership to the accounting team, support monthly and quarterly close, assist with external reporting, partner cross-functionally across the organization, and help strengthen accounting processes, controls, and technology-enabled workflows.

    This is a visible role with access to senior finance leadership and the opportunity to lead a team in a growing, fast-paced retail environment.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members while setting clear expectations, priorities, and accountability
    • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including financial statements, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation
    • Review accounting work for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and alignment with internal policies
    • Assist with SEC reporting, including support for quarterly and annual filings, current reports, proxy-related materials, and related disclosures
    • Maintain strong internal controls and support SOX documentation, review, testing, and compliance efforts
    • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP
    • Support accounting for leases, equity awards, taxes, insurance, investments, banking, and other corporate accounting areas
    • Oversee equity award recordkeeping and support required reporting for insider equity transactions
    • Partner with external advisors, including tax, equity, actuarial, and other professional service providers
    • Coordinate with external tax partners to support timely and accurate income tax, state and local tax, and business-related filings
    • Help ensure indirect tax obligations are completed accurately and on time, including sales tax, use tax, property tax, and business licenses
    • Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, Tax, Operations, and other internal teams on accounting-related matters
    • Support process improvement initiatives, including new technology, improved workflows, automation, and modernization of accounting files and processes
    • Assist with insurance-related matters, renewals, contracts, actuarial inputs, claims follow-up, and dispute resolution as needed
    • Support finance leadership with investment activity, daily banking coordination, reporting requests, and special projects
    • Perform additional accounting, reporting, control, and leadership responsibilities as assigned

    What We're Looking For

    • Publicly traded company experience required
    • SEC reporting experience required
    • SOX experience required
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
    • Technical accounting experience, including complex accounting issues
    • Lease accounting experience preferred
    • ASC-related technical accounting experience preferred
    • Experience with inventory, retail, manufacturing, distribution, or product-based business environments preferred
    • Experience with income taxes and indirect taxes, including sales/use tax and property tax
    • Strong leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and manage accounting staff
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, projects, and stakeholders
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across departments
    • Interest in process improvement, technology adoption, and accounting modernization

    Preferred Background

    • Retail industry experience strongly preferred
    • Experience in a company with inventory, stores, distribution, manufacturing, or multi-location operations
    • Experience with ERP systems, accounting systems, reporting tools, and cloud-based business applications
    • CPA preferred
    • Public accounting background a plus
    • Relocation candidates may be considered for the right background
