Kforce has a client in Saint Louis, MO that is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager/Controller Consultant Summary: This is a senior-level accounting consulting role focused on centralizing and managing a broad set of financial activities across investments, real estate, and related entities. The position is highly hands-on, requiring ownership of day-to-day accounting while also documenting processes and improving efficiency. The role will ultimately support a transition of these responsibilities to a long-term solution, making it ideal for someone experienced in both operational accounting and process transformation. Key Responsibilities:
  • Centralize accounting and financial activities currently distributed across multiple team members into a single role
  • Partner with finance leadership and team members to identify, document, and map existing workflows
  • Lead the transition of responsibilities from multiple stakeholders to a centralized function
  • Prepare processes for eventual transition to a third-party or outsourced model
  • Perform accounting and bookkeeping activities across multiple asset classes, including: Investment portfolios; Real estate portfolio; Cash management and line of credit activity
  • Record and track cash inflows and outflows and mark-to-market adjustments
  • Manage accounting related to specialized assets, including corporate aircraft usage (tracking costs, usage, and allocations)
  • Support debt accounting, including interest tracking for intercompany financing arrangements
  • Execute financial transactions based on direction from external advisors (e.g., investment advisors)
  • Assist in evaluating outsourcing strategies for long-term ownership of accounting activities
  • Lead knowledge transfer and transition of responsibilities to an external provider

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience at Accounting Manager, Controller, or equivalent level
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, cash management and banking operations, financial statement preparation
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data connections, reporting models)
  • Strong process documentation and workflow mapping capabilities
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize a broad scope of responsibilities
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate across internal teams and external advisors
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adaptability in a transitional and evolving environment
Preferred:
  • Experience in privately held or family-owned businesses with complex financial structures
  • Exposure to multiple asset classes (investments, real estate, debt instruments)
  • Experience managing or supporting process transitions or carve-out environments
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Senior-level accounting professional (Controller or Accounting Manager background)
  • Experience in mid-sized private companies with broad, hands-on exposure to diverse financial activities

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
