Job Title: Senior Accounting Analyst

Location: Portland, OR - Hybrid
Duration: 6+ month contract

Overview:
  • Contributes to a strong team environment.
  • Performs other duties and ad hoc assignments to support the department.
  • Supports our commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
  • Participates in month-end close by recording journal entries for segment activity and accruals.
  • Analyzes results in comparison to budget and prior periods and provides variance explanations to Management.
  • Prepares account reconciliations and performs SOX controls to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Compiles specific information for the Company’s SEC financial statement disclosures.
  • Provides support for both internal and external audits.
  • Assist with regulatory filings as needed.
  • Gas Reserves accounting
  • Manages the monthly gas reserves accounting process, working regularly with a joint venture partner to obtain and record relevant transactions.
  • Supports annual audit of the investment.
  • Supports an annual reserve study and incorporates study results in annual forecasts.
  • Prepares materials for monthly Management and quarterly Subsidiary Board Meetings.
  • North Mist Gas Storage Facility accounting
  • Prepares monthly reporting package for Management. This includes reviewing information from multiple departments and interpreting results.
  • Works closely with the Rates team to develop annual forecast of future costs.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting and CPA certificate are required
  • Minimum of 5 years of applied accounting experience. Public accounting experience is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to critically think and apply that knowledge to business requirements
  • Experience in utility industry or related business environment is preferred
  • Experience using SAP or another general ledger or other financial software system is strongly preferred
  • Experience with reconciliation tool, Blackline preferred
  • Demonstrated background in applying analytical/accounting research skills
  • Excellent verbal skills, including the ability to apply group facilitation techniques and make group presentations
  • Strong written communication skills including with process and task documentation and report generation
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, including strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must combine attention to detail with the ability to envision the big picture
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on technical accounting rules and experience researching accounting issues
  • PC Skills primarily for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate projects
  • Proven ability to function in a team environment
