Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our award-winning engineering design and consulting firm in our Indianapolis North Office. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will play a key part in maintaining and improving day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of ownership and the ability to step into an established but dynamic accounting environment. Responsibilities will include payroll, financial reporting, work in progress, client invoicing, and a variety of other accounting functions.

Responsibilities

Duties related to this position include but are not limited to:

  • Work in Progress (WIP)
  • Client Invoices
  • Client & Subconsultant Contract Management
  • Client Receipts / Collection Assistance
  • Payroll
  • Assist with financial reporting
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Required (Master's Degree or CPA Preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Accounting Experience Required - Service-Based Revenue Model Accounting Experience Preferred
  • Managerial / Supervisor Experience a plus
  • Understanding of Bookkeeping Practices & Procedures
  • Excellent Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to Follow Verbal and Written Instructions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Primarily Microsoft Excel)
  • Experience with Deltek software products is preferred but not required
