Senior Accountant – Oil & Gas Industry

ARC Group is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a leading client in the Oil & Gas industry. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a hybrid work schedule based in Dallas, Texas.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced-level financial analysis, accounting activities, and reporting functions to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. This role evaluates financial impacts related to accounting practices and supports decision-making through detailed analysis, reporting, and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze complex financial activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards
  • Conduct financial studies and provide recommendations related to finance, billing, accounting, capital expenditures, and taxation policies
  • Perform advanced financial calculations and analyses, including:
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Depreciation (book and tax)
    • Tax deferrals
    • Financial ratio analysis
    • Billing adjustments and revenue reconciliation
    • Rate/tariff schedule analysis
    • Derivative accounting entries and disclosures
  • Support development and maintenance of financial systems, including micro and/or mainframe applications used for reporting, billing, and accounting functions
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports such as:
    • Forecast vs. actual expense reports
    • Regulatory and governmental filings
    • Monthly and quarterly financial statements
    • Revenue and billing reconciliations
    • Gas supply tracking and cost-of-gas calculations
  • Assist in budgeting processes and financial planning activities
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff; assist with prioritization and workload management
  • Review and interpret accounting data, regulatory requirements, contracts, and financial documentation
  • Serve as a liaison with internal stakeholders, auditors, regulatory agencies, and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other applicable regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with financial reporting, accounting processes, and billing systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems (mainframe or enterprise accounting systems experience preferred)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oil & Gas industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools
  • Exposure to economic forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling
  • Experience working with regulatory reporting or compliance environments
  • Familiarity with supervisory or mentoring responsibilities
