Our mission is to deliver the dream of flight!⯠iFLY is a global company with 31 U.S. locations.⯠This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, successful, innovative company that supports your professional development.
This newly expanded role rounds out our Finance & Accounting department's coverage across tax, fixed assets, consolidation, and revenue accounting. It's a high-visibility position created to close gaps in departmental capacity, with direct exposure to the Senior Director of Finance and a clear path toward Assistant Controller for strong performers.â¯
We don't expect one person to walk in with deep expertise in all four areas. What matters most is real depth in at least one — multi-state tax, fixed assets, or consolidation/revenue recognition — plus the curiosity and drive to build breadth across the rest over time.â¯
*This role is primarily remote, with occasional trips to our Austin office for mail pickup and team meetings. Candidates must be located in or near the Austin, TX area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales, Use & Property Taxâ¯
- Own sales/use and property tax compliance end-to-end — coordinating with external consultants on filings, maintaining exemption and nexus documentation, and leading audit defense.â¯
- Reconcile tax GL accounts and monitor state/local tax law changes for business impact.â¯
Fixed Assetsâ¯
- Own the fixed asset subledger — additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and CIP tracking — reconciled to the GL monthly.â¯
- Ensure proper capitalization and useful-life classification, and coordinate physical asset verification cycles.â¯
Consolidation & Revenue Accountingâ¯
- Support multi-entity consolidation, including intercompany eliminations and balance reconciliation.â¯
- Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition to contracts and transactions, and analyze revenue trends against budget.â¯
Process Improvementâ¯
- Identify and lead process and automation improvements across close, tax, and reporting workflows, partnering with IT as needed.â¯
- Document accounting procedures and internal control narratives.â¯
General Accounting & Leadership Exposureâ¯
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of monthly close and financial statement prep.â¯
- Partner directly with the Senior Director of Finance on executive reporting and support external audit requests.â¯
- Mentor junior staff and take on expanded scope as the function grows — a deliberate growth opportunity, not a catch-all.
What Success Looks Like (Growth Path):
As you build depth across these areas, expect increasing ownership of technical accounting judgment, direct partnership with finance leadership, growing involvement in external financial reporting, and opportunities to lead improvements and mentor others — the natural runway toward Assistant Controller.
Work Experience and Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.â¯
- 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with real depth in at least one of multi-state tax, fixed assets, or consolidations.â¯
- CPA or CPA candidate a plus, not required.â¯
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and consolidation principles; ERP experience (Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.â¯
- Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational skills who can manage multiple priorities independently.â¯
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-entity organizations.â¯
- Tax, fixed asset, or consolidation software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, or similar).â¯
- Familiarity with internal controls / SOX-compliant environments.
The Good Stuffâ¯:
- Competitive salary and performance bonus opportunities
- Medical, dental, vision, and supplemental plans
- Paid time off (PTO)â¯â¯â¯
- 401k retirement investment â¯â¯â¯
- Tuition reimbursementâ¯â¯â¯
- Referral bonus programâ¯â¯â¯
- Employee discount on retail merchandise and flight packagesâ¯â¯â¯
- Free flight time for employees and immediate family
- Ongoing training and development programs
