Job Summary

The Aerospace Corporation is looking for a Senior Accountant/ Analyst (Accounting Staff IV) with strong experience in accounting principles to join our General Accounting department. In this role, you will be responsible for all facets of preparing and submitting weekly invoices to our primary customer; leading the month-end close process; preparing journal entries and account reconciliations; and interfacing with our external and government auditors.

 

Responsibilities

• Prepares invoices for Aerospace government and commercial customers • Acts as primary point of contact regarding billing and invoicing inquiries as well as other functions from internal and external auditors • Leads the monthly close process by recording and reviewing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preparing supporting schedules • Monitors the progress of closing activities, keeping management updated while continuously seeking ways to improve the closing processes and related documentation • Prepares detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts • Reviews requests, determines scope of request, obtains documentation, and prepares for manager review before releasing to auditors • Leads and coordinates departmental projects and initiatives as assigned • Assists other Staff Accountants as needed

 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Accountant/ Analyst (Accounting Staff IV) include:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline is required • A minimum of (6) or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant professional experience in the Accounting field is required • In-Depth Accounting Expertise: Proven grasp of accounting principles and GAAP, coupled with a strong understanding of complex accounting topics and varied reporting standards • Robust ERP Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging ERP systems-including SAP, Oracle, and Great Plains-to streamline business processes, enhance data management, and drive operational efficiency • Advanced Excel Proficiency & Audit Preparation: Demonstrated experience in developing detailed auditor schedules and conducting comprehensive accounting data analyses using advanced Microsoft Excel techniques • Standard Work Schedule with Occasional Extended Hours: This role adheres to a standard Monday-Friday workweek, with additional hours expected during critical periods such as fiscal year-end, close, and audit preparation (typically September through December)

 

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:

• Possess CPA certification with hands-on public accounting experience, demonstrating robust expertise in financial analysis, auditing, and regulatory compliance • Extensive background in general accounting functions, including month- and year-end close processes, journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of audit schedules • Proven experience in preparing, reviewing, and submitting invoices for multiple clients, always meeting prescribed deadlines and ensuring accuracy • Expertise in leveraging advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, and PivotTables to perform complex data analyses and reporting • A strong passion for data analysis and dashboard reporting, utilizing data-driven insights to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency

• Min - Max: $95,200.00 - $142,700.00 • Pay Basis: Annual
